The OVERGRADUATORS is an artist-run complicity, exploring alternative ways of working, development and distribution. Its members collaborate within a non- consensual cultural space, which taps into the motivations and concerns of artists, curators and craftspeople leaving the academy and entering into the professional world.
Overgraduation is an 8-person collective that emerged out of the Challenging Jewellery MA programme, experimenting with modalities of collaboration, development and distribution within an educational institution. Its members collaborate without consensus but on the basis of agreements, which taps into the motivations and concerns of artists, curators and craftspeople leaving the academy and entering into the professional world. As such, the collective thinks through the nature of the artistic job market and the persistent, fearless wish to make a living out of one’s conviction. For the exhibition at Het Hem, Overgraduation is physically present through their magazine, flag and Notgroschen-bedecke.
