UNIFORM is based on interviews with U.S. soldiers and veterans at the Military Intelligence Center in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Using the relationship between collectivity and the Army's recent adoption of the Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) as a starting point, each participant reflects on their own experiences in uniform, drawing comparisons between past and present, training and deployment, and the disparity between the visual identity of a soldier and the construction of personal memories. In the video installation, narrators are screened opposite footage of a veterans' outpost and the surrounding Sonoran desert, which was used as a training ground due to its topographical and environmental similarities to regions of Iraq and Afghanistan.
